Bowling in Armor? Hell No!

Once we finished working on it that night, he wanted to go to the local bowling alley to show it off. The only way I was going to do it is if he was going to wear his armor, and he did end up putting his on as well. His armor was very well weathered, while mine was still shiny white, but that didn’t matter because we were going to go out and have some fun wearing them. Plus, I would be able to figure out if all the work I did was going to be a comfortable fit for me.

We did go to the bowling alley, but there weren’t many people there so we only hung for a few minutes. He and his wife (Mary) were hungry since they hadn’t had dinner yet, and they thought about heading out to Culvers which was just down the street. Bob and I decided to walk down there, and what initially looked like a simple walk turned out to be a pretty lengthy walk. Nonetheless, I could have cared less if there was some discomfort to the armor as I had been dreaming my entire life of wearing it. After we arrived at Culvers we realized that it was closed (it was about 10:00pm), so we walked hopped in their van and drove further down the street to Denny’s.

Eating at Denny's

The parking lot at Denny’s was pretty packed, so I knew right away that there were going to be a lot of customers inside who were just about to see two sandtroopers walk into the building. Just seconds after walking into the place, we were completely mobbed by all these high school and college kids! There must have been 20-30 people all around us who took out their digital cameras and camera phones, and the picture-taking had begun. One girl asked for us to take our helmets off, so I took mine off and they were all like… COOL! We must have stood there for almost five minutes while they checked us out and asked us questions about our armor. It was probably one of the coolest moments in my entire life. After grabbing a bite to eat there, we decided to pack it up for the night, and I wouldn’t have been able to put on my armor until the next night, which happened to be my brother’s second annual Halloween party.
